THE VALE Golf Club lady captain’s drive-in was held last Tuesday and was followed by a greensomes Matchplay competition which saw the lady captain’s team face the vice-captain’s.
The day started with vice-captain Rosie Loh introducing new lady captain Audrey Sidwell and giving a talk about the skipper and her family, work and golf.
Golfers then walked to the tenth tee where past lady captains wearing pink sweaters formed an arch with their drivers for the new lady captain to walk through.
Audrey then downed a glass of brandy and proceeded to drive her ball 154 yards.
The 12-hole competition which followed resulted in a draw which was a fitting end to a very enjoyable drive-in.
Audrey’s charity is Birmingham Children’s Hospital and the drive-in draw raised £260 for this very good cause.
Clare Bunn and Neil Martin guessed the length of her drive and were presented with their prizes.
