THE 4 Clubs and a Putter contest at Evesham Golf Club on Tuesday attracted 37 female competitors for what is always an exciting event.
The choosing of which clubs to use is always an interesting conversation on the first tee, with so many combinations to choose from.
Also the subject of much conversation was the tremendous outpouring of rain, as one minute the skies were beautiful and the next a deluge of rain arrived.
EGC’s Marlene Billings said: “Our threesome were on the ‘River Hole’ and we might as well have jumped in as we couldn’t have got any wetter. There was not even enough time to put the brollies up!”
Having battled on, the winner was Jenny Marston with 20 points and runner-up was Jenny Masser with 18 points on countback.
Well done to all who stayed the course.
THIRTY Evesham Golf Club ladies set out to play the somewhat inappropriately named ‘Back 9’ competition last Tuesday which is a Stableford event featuring holes ten to 18 and then one to three.
The 12 holes were played in dry conditions in good humour and the plus point was being able to go home in daylight!
Results: Division One: winner – Ruth Masters, 21 points; runner-up – Annie Bird, 17 points.
Division Two: winner – Jill Cleary, 23 points; runner-up – Gill Smith, 19 points.
Division Three: winner – Gillian Spencer, 19 points; runner-up – Jenny Masser, 17 points.
