ONLY half a dozen Birdseye Sports Evesham Sunday League matches survived the weather in the latest round of fixtures, including the battle of the top two in Division Two.

Leaders Alderton came out on top against visitors Tewkesbury Town and opened a ten-point lead with a 3-1 victory.

Town led at the interval through Goodwin’s goal, only for Alderton to hit back with goals from Greaves, Reid and Tryner.

Third placed Harvington slipped up with a 2-1 loss at home to Cropthorne as Boother and Perks netted for the visitors and Woodfield struck for Harvington.

Broadway United Reserves earned a valuable 2-0 win at New Inn Pershore thanks to goals from Chambers and Clarke, whilst Charlton Old Boys scored seven first half goals in a convincing 9-2 home victory over Ecosamba in which Clarke (3), Andy Clements (3), Wood, Ainsworth & Chris Clements scored for the hosts and Maisey bagged a brace for the visitors.

Bretforton Old Boys moved six points clear in Division One and still have a game in hand on their rivals after goals from Beattie, Brown and Beddoes defeated visitors Stour Excelsior 3-0.

Sun Inn became the first team through to the Bluck Cup semi-finals with a convincing 6-2 home win over Dragons which saw former Evesham United player Jack Watts score twice and further home goals come from Steger, Price, Roberts and Parry, whilst Dragons netted through Clarke and Lane.
