MAGGIE McDivitt welcomed Broadway Golf Club’s ladies as a full field turned out to support her Lady Captain’s Day Alliance.

Following a shotgun start, teams of three went out in high spirits and, with the best two scores to count on all holes, the points were there to be made.

There had been a cooler breeze to begin with but as the day progressed some pleasant sunshine broke through, making conditions near perfect.

There was some quality golf produced by the winning trio Judith Noyce, Veronica Rudd and Angela Sollis who came in with a fine 90 points.

Second with an excellent 85 points were ladies’ vice-captain Irene Hawkes, Jan Titley and Kate Bellamy, ahead of Jane Atkins, Jenny Bruton and Barbara Crew in third with 81.

Prizes were also awarded for best front and back nines with Julia Ward, Isobella Lates and Julia Fortescue achieving a creditable 42 points to take the front honours and Debbie Donoghue, Pam Hooper and Alma Harrison taking the back with a superb 46.

Nearest the pins were also awarded on all par threes and were won by Chris Saunders on the fifth, Titley on the eighth and Annabelle Carter on the 13th.

McDivitt then treated all ladies to a fabulous afternoon tea, prepared by Jon Hawthorne and his team at Fayreway’s UK, followed by an array of delicious cakes baked by the ladies committee.

THE MEN competed in their Division One and Two Medals on a weekend day when the weather was fine and dry.

With tremendous roll on the fairways and the greens running beautifully, the 65 competitors were treated to ideal playing conditions and all made the most of what was before them.

Mike Humpston showed fine form to top Division One with an exceptional 64 nett and Will Icke secured an incredibly close second place with 65, also earning lowest gross on the day with a superb 69, leaving Jamie Andrew to slip into third with an admirable 66 nett.

In Division Two, Joe Icke took top spot with an impressive 64 nett ahead of George Gavin who achieved a second with 67 and Adam Barnfield who took third with a nett 70.
