BROADWAY Golf Club’s ladies had their dancing shoes on as they competed in their Stableford Waltz.

Whilst dry and bright, there was a biting wind to contend with but, well wrapped up, ladies ventured out in their teams of three.

The Waltz format allowed for one score on the first hole, two on the second and all three on the third and, with this repeated over nine holes, some impressive scores began to come in.

Winners with a fine 38 points were Jenny Buchan, Lyn Chambers and Liz Smith.

Isobella Lates, Linda Carruthers and Jayne Rose earned a close second place with an excellent 35, leaving Kim Lockyear, Chris Saunders and Sonia Ward in third with 32 and Kate Bellamy, Chris Parkinson and Jan Titley fourth on countback.

The men were out at the weekend to enjoy much milder conditions for the penultimate round of their Winter League.

All with their sights set firmly on that ascent to the top of the league table, the 56 pairs strode out eager to begin their Betterball contest.

Victorious with a tremendous 50 points were John Richmond and Mark Magee and runners-up were Peter Cockle and Joe Icke with 49 points.

Third were Peter Arch and Josh Coleman with 48 and fourth were Mick Sandalls and Paul Walker with 47.

Anticipation now mounts as all competitors look forward to the final round to be played later this month.
