DAVE and LESLEY KEWLEY were triumphant with 42 points in the Evesham Golf Club Seniors Mixed Open at Craycombe Links.
Eighty-four competitors were welcomed by the club on a fine sunny day, including many players from other clubs.
The competition was a greensomes pairs Stableford in which both players of the pair drove off the tee and then the best drive was chosen to continue play.
The course was in excellent condition considering the recent dry spell and some impressive scoring was achieved by many of the teams.
The charity raffle in aid of Acorn’s Children’s Hospice raised more than £290.
Runners-up with 38 points were Richard Curnock and Ruth Masters and third with 37 on countback were David Hogg (Puckrup) and Conryn Abbott.
Nearest the pin on the ninth were (men) Hogg and (ladies) Julie Powell (Leominster).
EGC seniors defeated visitors Lilley Brook 3.5-2.5 in an entertaining encounter at Craycombe Links on Monday.
In dry and warm conditions, Evesham welcomed Roger Holmes and Tim Swift to the team and both contributed to the victory.
The Cheltenham-based visitors played some good golf including several chip-ins but were edged out.
