EVESHAM Rowing Club junior squad’s latest outing was to Llandaff Rowing Club where they raced on a quiet 1,200m stretch of the River Taff in Cardiff and, as usual at this event, the Vale club’s supporters were out in force and in loud voice to encourage the young athletes.
Evesham rowers produced some really outstanding performances, including several narrowly missed finals, as the squad came away with winners pots for Sophie Evans who enjoyed two victories in her two singles events and Sophie Stoddart, Tom Woodward and Alex Edwards all also triumphed in their singles.
Sarah Ellis, Georgii Bragg, Rosie Macdonald and Jenny Jackson won their coxless quad race and the double of Alex Edwards and Lewis Cuddy was also victorious.
Coach Andy Woodward’s ‘Performance of the Day accolade went to Issy Clarke and Immy Ledbetter, who fought hard to maintain their lead and win their double against very strong opposition.
