EVESHAM Jubilee Angling Society enjoyed a four section to two victory over visitors Babcock AC in the Angling Times Supercup second round on Saturday.

Each member of the six-strong teams fished in a two-man section on the Jubilee, which produced some close finishes as plenty of fish were caught.

Babcock’s Steve Evans won the match from J3 with an excellent 74lb 1oz, whilst for the hosts Chris Taylor continued his recent good form, finishing in second place and winning his section from J13 with 55lb 9oz and Phil Seedhouse was third from J25 with 52lb 8oz for another section win.

The other Jubilee section winners were Mark Birbeck on J10 who was behind in his section at one point but then went on to catch 51lb 14oz to take the section.

The final section was close as Babcock’s Andy Selcombe placed 45lb 11oz on the scales from J20, fishing against Jubilee’s Ian Pitman on J22, who produced a brilliant match-winning 46lb 3oz to take the section.

Team Jubilee won 4-2 and look forward to the regional semi-final at Tunnel Barn Farm in Shrewley, Warwickshire, on August 26.

JUBILEE members met at the Jam Factory at Lower Broadheath, fishing on the Willow and Sycamore pools.

The match produced some good weights as four anglers caught more than 100lb in weight. First was Steve Foster on the Willow pool who caught an impressive 161lb 10oz and second was Richard Ford with 159lb on the Sycamore pool.

Two sections were won with 100lb-plus weights – Dave Bowditch on Willow with 110lb 5oz and Billy Pitman on Sycamore with 105lb. The other two section winners were Martin Dugmore (84lb 8oz) and Jim Bennett (83lb 8oz).
