JD Racing duo dig in at Cadwell Park

WORCESTER’S Ewan Potter and Cameron Fraser, riding for Evesham’s Jones Dorling Racing, produced gritty performances at Lincolnshire’s Cadwell Park circuit in round eight of the Superstock 600 support series in the 2019 British Superbike Championship.

The first free practice session on Friday was dry and Fraser finished in P8 and Potter in P20. Although free practice two was damp and both only got a few laps in, Potter improved to finish 11th.

Considering he had not previously completed any dry laps on the Yamaha at the challenging circuit, he was happy with his lap times.

Fraser unfortunately did not have the qualifying session he had hoped for as he finished 17th and Potter’s qualifying session did not go as planned when he came off at turn two.

Charlie’s is a high-speed turn but luckily Potter was uninjured, meaning he was 23rd on the grid for Sunday’s race, however the bike had more than cosmetic damage.

The team worked into the night to rebuild the Yamaha to ensure Potter could race.

Both racers had good starts to the 12-lap race, however, following an incident with two riders in the early laps, the race was red-flagged.

The race was restarted but then rain started to fall on the track, with race control red-flagging the riders yet again for safety.

On the second restart the race was declared a wet race but, with a quickly drying track, decisions had to be made on tyre choice.

The race was shortened to seven laps with Potter passing several riders to secure 17th place and another personal best lap time.

Fraser managed to surge through to cross the line in 12th, picking up additional championship points and also a personal best, with only one second splitting the top 12.
