It's tight at the top in Division Three

ASHTON 88 moved level on points at the top of Birdseye Sports Evesham Sunday League Division Three with a fine 4-0 win at leaders Strawberry Field United as Begley (2), Johnson and Stevens found the net.

Ambi Allsports came from 2-0 down at the interval to defeat visitors Stratford HGC 4-2 with four second half goals from Corr, Dawe, Tarry and McKenna.

The battle between the bottom two saw Bengeworth come from behind to defeat hosts Fairfield Titans 4-3, whilst Dragons were beaten 6-1 by Redditch visitors Arrow Valley in the Bromsgrove Charity Minor Cup quarter-final.

The top three teams in Division Two all recorded comprehensive wins. Alderton went goal crazy with a 17-1 success at Fortis through goals from Greaves (9), Pennel (6), Reid and Bowles, whilst Knapper bagged a consolation for Fortis.

Broadway United Reserves were 9-1 winners at home to Bredon and Bretforton Old Boys triumphed by the same scoreline against ten-man visitors Badsey Recreation with goals from Edghill (4), Brain (2), Hiden, Miles and Colston.

In Division One, Evesham WMC gained a much-needed three points with a 4-1 home victory over Inkberrow in which the Workies scored through Scott, Hartland, Dixon and Grady and Inkberrow netted through McManus.

New Inn Pershore recorded a 4-0 home win over Mickleton Rangers through Smith (2), Ballard and Rushton and leaders Bretforton Old Boys marched on with a 2-0 success at Tewkesbury Town.

Stour Excelsior reached the last four of the Evesham Mechanical Services Knockout Cup with a 6-3 victory at TDMS Evesham. Having been 3-0 down at the interval to goals from Phipps (2) and Rogers, the Shipston outfit hit back with second half goals from Wilson (2), Harris (2), Godson and Grubb.

The league resumes on January 7.
