It's the final countdown in Parish Games

Evesham Editorial 5th Nov, 2018 Updated: 5th Nov, 2018   0

IT HAS been a busy past week of finals in the Wychavon Parish Games.

Badsey & Aldington and Broadway met at Bretforton Sports Club in the final of the dominoes. Badsey won the first round and, although Broadway managed to pull back some games, they were never able to catch Badsey who won by six matches to three.

Bengeworth Club hosted the final of the pool between last year’s winners Bretforton and Eckington and this proved to be a really exciting, close final.

Although Bretforton won the first two matches, Eckington levelled before the final game went down to the last leg in which Bretforton’s Ade Icke managed to overcome his Eckington rival to win by four matches to one.

A day later Eckington were in action again in the final of the skittles at Badsey Social & Community Club.

Their opponents this time were Evesham Bengeworth and Eckington took a ten-pin lead into the second leg.

However, Evesham Bengeworth slowly wore this lead down to two pins at the end of the fourth leg. That all changed though when two spares by Eckington players took the match away from Evesham Bengeworth, with Eckington eventually winning by 11.

The last final will be the men’s darts at Bretforton Sports Club on Friday, November 16 between Evesham Bengeworth and Honeybourne.

The 40th anniversary presentation evening will take place on Thursday, November 22 at Bretforton Sports Club and will be attended by the chairman of Wychavon District Council.
