Inkberrow spring a cup surprise

DIVISION Three’s Inkberrow produced an outstanding performance to defeat Division One outfit WMK and reach the third round of the Birdseye Sports Evesham Sunday League’s Evesham Mechanical Services Knockout Cup.

Keating gave WMK the lead before Lewis Sheen equalised right on half time and Griffiths struck the winner midway through the second half to earn a deserved 2-1 win for the visitors in the second round.

The third round action saw Pinvin United reach the last eight with a convincing 10-2 home win over Offenham Rovers in which Mark Bellamy scored five goals and Shepherd, Izod, Fletcher, Wright and Giles were also amongst the goals.

Fladbury Athletic progressed with a routine 6-0 home win over Evesham WMC with goals from Sean Brain (2), N Brain (2), Hall and Howells and their quarter-final opponents will be Bretforton Old Boys who edged out visitors Broadway United 3-2. Layton (2) and Richardson scored for Old Boys and Hands and Cooper netted for Broadway.




Third division side Ecosamba reached the last eight by winning 3-1 at Cropthorne thanks to a Jack Watts hat-trick.

Cider Mill reached the last eight of the Bluck Cup with a 7-1 victory at Sun Inn and in league action Broadway United Reserves moved out of the third division relegation zone with a surprise 3-2 win over in-form Badsey Recreation. Sallis, Jinks and Brandon Parker netted for hosts Broadway and Badsey scored through Brown and Proctor.


In Division Two Bredon returned to the top with a 4-1 victory at AC Olympia in which Buckley (2), Jordan and Bourgeois scored for Bredon and Walters netted for AC Olympia.

Alderton picked up a much-needed 4-2 win at Tesco United as Gamble, Greaves, Baker and Stocks scored for the village outfit and Stevens and Dovey struck for Tesco.

Ambassador and Ruby Jacks were unable to raise a team for their respective matches and all other fixtures were postponed due to waterlogged pitches.
