Injury-hit Robins prepare to tackle Harriers

PAUL COLLICUTT says he will need to call in a few favours to fill the gaps in his depleted squad for tonight’s (Thursday) Worcestershire Senior Cup semi-final.

The Robins entertain Kidderminster Harriers in the last four tie at the Spiers & Hartwell Jubilee Stadium, with the winners then facing Redditch United in the final at Bromsgrove Sporting on Saturday.

However, an ever-growing list of absentees have meant the Robins boss having to phone fellow managers and contacts to find players.

“It’s been going from bad to worse,” said Collicutt. “I’ve been on the phone making calls, waiting for people to maybe let me bring in a couple of players.

“I’ll be having a roll call to see who is available.”

To add to the problems, skipper Matt Sysum has to sit out the game because he has to serve a three-match ban carried over from last season.

Will Wellon (ankle) is also struggling but Lance Smith could feature after returning from his holidays yesterday (Wednesday).

Meanwhile, the Robins are confident of securing trialist Sam Pearson for the season. The former Hereford forward, who has impressed in the pre-season games, has agreed to stay, but Evesham have run out of official signing-on forms.
