Impressive win for Littleton men

AFTER a short break from the Pershore Bowls Centre-sponsored Concorde League, Littleton put out six rinks against opposition from Suffolk Square (Cheltenham) and Barnwood (Gloucester) and came away with fine wins.

The men’s team played Overbury in the Concorde League on Saturday and, although the opposition were two players short because of injury, they put up a brave fight but lost out to Littleton by four rinks to one.

The best came from captain and skip Mike Emms with Will Heming, Les Griffin and Dave Turner (22-10) and the overall result was 97-67.25.

The ladies played Overbury Ladies at home and regrettably because of injury/illness could only put out three rinks. Littleton lost by two rinks to one (66-41) and the winning rink comprised of Chris Winnett, Jeanette and Emily.

Several men have come along to try the game of bowls and are really coming along well but ladies captain Vikki is keen to hear from any ladies who would like to have a go at this extremely enjoyable game.

Either ring the club on 01386 830198 and leave a message or come along to the club any Wednesday after 6pm with some flat shoes and you will be made most welcome and given some initial informal tuition.

Littleton’s annual gala tournament takes place on Sunday, July 5 and there are limited places for teams of four mixed players. This is a really enjoyable day where 20 teams from around the region as well as players from South Wales and Glasgow take part in a very friendly but competitive event with cash prizes for the top teams.

Sponsorship is being sought from local companies for the gala and in return the club will do its utmost to give sponsors local publicity.

Finally, a bowling tour has been organised to the Torquay area in September. There are a few spare places on the tour, which incorporates staying at an excellent hotel with games organised on four days and with transport throughout the tour. If you are interested in joining call 01386 830198 and leave a message.
