SOME 87 Vale Golf Club seniors challenged the Bishampton course when they played the final Stableford qualifier of the year on a very pleasant autumn morning.
Good scoring was achieved throughout the three divisions and results were as follows;
Results: Division One – 1st Gerrry Clayton, 38; 2nd Clive Gilbert, 37; 3rd Ed Mountney, 36.
Division Two – 1st Paul Stewart, 41; 2nd Mel Locke, 40; 3rd Brian Sidaway, 38; 4th Chris Enticknap, 37.
Division Three – 1st Andy Jinks, 38; 2nd Brian Bunn, 38; 3rd Mike Spittle, 38; 4th Allan Brooker, 38.
Nearest the pin – John Jarvis.
A THREE-BALL Stableford Am/Am with two to score was played with the course in excellent condition and the weather behaving itself until a short shower at midday.
Winners were John Jarvis, Tony Horner and Barry Sayer with 88 points and runners-up were John Turner, David Seager and Michael Hughes with 87 points.
Third were Ian McCrae, John Scott and the returning Derek Tigwell with 85 points on countback from fourth placed Brian Bunn, Mike Roberts and Peter Burleigh.
A further four teams also finished on 85 points, which shows what a hard fought contest it was.
VALE seniors were well represented in the annual Lenches versus International match and the three pairings of Mike Heard, Martin Westwood, Brian Bunn, Mike Roberts, Bernard Rayner and Geoff Wilson were victorious in the International team’s 4-2 victory.
