Impressive Pershore medal haul at Bristol Open Meet

PERSHORE Swimming Club members were in fine form at the City of Bristol Long Course Meet as some of them competed in a 50m pool for the first time.

The PSC boys dominated the 14-year-old category and the Top Boy accolade for the meet went to Chris Vizard (14) who won a medal in all of his races with golds in the 400m freestyle (4.52.31), 100m freestyle (1.00.36), 50m backstroke (32.71), 50m fly (30.15), 100m fly (1.07.03), 400m freestyle (5.18.53), 200m individual medley (2.29.72), 200m fly (2.34.92) and 200m backstroke (2.30.73).

He also took silver in the 100m backstroke (1.10.10), 200m freestyle (2.16.55) and 50m freestyle (27.82).

Team-mate Luke Perry won gold in the 100m backstroke (1.09.90) and 200m freestyle (2.16.35) and silver in the 50m breaststroke (33.41), 200m breaststroke (2.57.11), 100m freestyle (1.10.95) and 50m fly (32.12).




Patrick Heeks (13) claimed gold in the 50m backstroke (32.79) and 50m fly (31.59), silver in the 200m freestyle (2.19.52) and 100m backstroke (2.19.52) and bronze in the 100m freestyle (1.03.60).

Younger brother Josh (9) took gold in the 100m freestyle (1.25.22) and 50m fly (43.79), silver in the 100m backstroke (1.38.97) and bronze in the 50m backstroke (45.35) and 50m breaststroke (45.35).


Hamish Cross (13) won silver in the 50m (32.13) and 100m fly (1.14.04) and bronze in the 50m freestyle (30.76), 200m individual medley (2.46.47) and 50m (38.60) and 200m breaststroke (3.09.92).

The Pershore girls were not to be outdone as Izzy Cumming looked strong in the 14-year-old category with first places in the 50m freestyle (32.15), 100m fly (1.20.85), 50m backstroke (36.12), 50m fly (33.27) and 100m backstroke (1.18.91).

She also secured silver in the 100m (1.08.35), 200m (2.28.54) and 400m freestyle (5.12.27) and 200m fly (3.11.45), as well as bronze in the 200m individual medley (2.47.30).

Hannah Simister (15) won bronze medals in the 50m (42.05) and 100m breaststroke (1.30.30), whilst Jasmine Hoskins (11) took silver in the 200m backstroke (2.57.67) and bronze in the 50m freestyle (33.64) and 200m freestyle (2.40.77).

Macey French (12) swam to gold in the 100m fly (1.2.85) and Emily Drayton (13) took silver in the 50m freestyle (30.42) and bronze in the 50m fly (34.29).

Caitlin Yates (12) won gold in the 50m (38.96) and 100m backstroke, silver in the 200m individual medley (2.54.11), 200m backstroke and 50m fly (36.30) and bronze in the 50m freestyle (33.69).

Debutants in a 50m pool were Alice Lazenbury (9) who raced to bronze in the 50m fly (1.07.73) and Grace Styler who picked up bronze in the 10-year 100m breaststroke (1.52.02).

Other PSC swimmers who raced, many of them achieving personal bests, were Jessica English, Ollie Smith, Jamie West, Holly Styler and James Heeks.
