PERSHORE Tennis Centre junior member Imogen Looker is celebrating after being named Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) Young Person of the Year for the Midlands.
Imogen, who has been playing tennis at the Pershore centre since the age of four, had been honoured at the annual Herefordshire & Worcestershire LTA County Awards Banquet in October 2018 and has now gone on to be rewarded at regional level too.
The junior member demonstrates great commitment to the sport as a player and now as a young coach.
As well as teaching tennis at Pershore, Imogen is also a part of the ladies’ A team and has been club singles champion for the past five years, as well as representing her county.
She was recently diagnosed with (ME) chronic fatigue syndrome but despite this continues to commit to her weekly six hours of coaching without fuss or complaint.
Pershore TC head coach Steve Bauer said: “Imogen is hardworking, loyal and a credit to all involved at Pershore. From representing county teams to ladies’ club teams, Imogen’s contribution as a young person is exceptional and we are very proud she should be recognised for this by both the Herefordshire & Worcestershire LTA and the Midlands LTA as well.”
The 30 national finalists will next depart on the road to Wimbledon and to the finals in July at the All England Lawn Tennis Club.
