Ilkeston tests await Town

Evesham Editorial 8th Mar, 2018   0

PERSHORE Town will prepare for one of the toughest weeks of the league season on the back of an impressive midweek victory.

The Plums visit title-chasing Ilkeston Town on Saturday in Midland League Division One and then welcome the fourth-placed Robins to the King George V Stadium for the return fixture a week on Saturday.

Quentin Townsend’s side, who lie 14th, returned to action on Tuesday with a 3-0 victory at home to Bolehall Swifts.

Town had the perfect start to take a third-minute lead when Jack Downing nodded home from a Chris Bright cross.

Terrance Morton doubled the lead on 79 minutes, pouncing on a loose ball after Charlie Anagho-Ntamark’s effort had been blocked by keeper Lee Paintain, before substitute Alfie Bloomer sealed the points from man of the match Downing’s pass.
