TWENTY-EIGHT Evesham Golf Club ladies set off on a cold and misty Tuesday morning to play the Coronation Foursomes, but it was not long before the mist lifted and the players were bathed in the most glorious sunshine, leading everyone to disrobe down to their polo shirts.
The arrival of spring was of particular delight to the winners of the Coronation Foursomes, who were captain Joan Hunt and her partner Jenny Masser with 32 points.
They were closely followed by Dee Machin and Val Lemon in second place with 31 points.
EVESHAM Golf Club seniors opened their 2015 season with a convincing 5-1 win against The Worcestershire last Wednesday.
In addition to two opens and a series of internal competitions, Evesham seniors play 22 friendly matches over the course of the summer – home and away – against 11 different clubs in the local area.
It is always a pleasure to host The Worcestershire, as evidenced by the contented buzz at lunch afterwards as roast pork and sublime Bakewell tart was washed down with the club Merlot.
The following Evesham pairs won their games: Mike Brumage (captain)/Mike Abraham 3&2; Neil Croft/Steve Deakin by 1; Malcolm Hiscock/Ian Facer (2&1); Michael Hocking/Dave Hartland (3&2); Jerry Cain/Martin Williams (3&2).
Up next is a match against The Vale, which is always a stern test.
