MICK HOCKING took top spot when Evesham Golf Club seniors contested their 3 Club Challenge competition on Wednesday.
An overcast but dry morning greeted competitors for this event, in which golfers must use a putter as one of the three clubs.
This format gives golfers the opportunity to improvise shots with the clubs available and to perhaps occasionally reflect on why they carry around the other 11 clubs, especially as more than 50 per cent of the field scored 30 points or better.
Hocking was the winner with 38 points as he edged last year’s victor Ian Wood into second with 35 points.
Third place went to Geoff Wellens on countback from Neil Croft and Bill Dobie, who all totalled 34 points.
