MIKE BUNN took a brilliant 8-7 including a hat-trick to inspire table-topping Pershore 4ths to a 119-run home victory over Oldswinford & Stourbridge Social 4ths.

Saturday’s match pitted Worcestershire League Division Five 2nd XI’s top two against each other and it was the hosts who were left celebrating thanks to the brilliance of seamer Bunn.

Opener and leading run-scorer Dom Capaldi (54) helped Pershore reach 115-1, before they collapsed to 160-9 off their 45 overs.

In response, Oldswinford were bowled out for just 41 as Bunn tore through their batting order. His nine-over spell included four maidens as Bunn claimed his first hat-trick and career-best figures.

The win leaves leaves Pershore, who visit Redditch on Saturday, with a 50-point lead.

PERSHORE’S first team are fifth in Birmingham League Division Two after a winning draw against fellow mid-table outfit Wombourne at The Bottoms.

Jon Hancock made 100 off 114 balls for Pershore and opener Liam Ridings a gritty 81 to help their side to 272-9 off 55 overs.

It was the Quiney show for Wombourne, as Ryan took 4-52, Adam 3-77 and Dale 2-56.

The visitors made a decent fist of their reply initially as opener Karl Quiney made 64 and Daniel Bassett 44.

However, once they were dismissed the innings fell apart as Matthew Brace (4-65) particularly impressed on the back of a superb spell from Luke Dalley who claimed 2-10 off ten overs.

However, final pair David Hemming and Dale Quiney survived 33 balls between them as the final wicket eluded Pershore, with the visitors closing on 172-9.

Pershore, who collected 17 points, visit second bottom Penkridge on Saturday.
