HARD work during training paid off for Evesham Vale triathlete Jason Robbins who completed the full Outlaw Triathlon at the Nottingham Watersports Centre.

In appalling rain and wind on Sunday, July 29, a very determined Robbins took 14 hours 52 minutes to complete a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride and a marathon run, his first time at a full distance triathlon.

In the process he raised around £1,900 for Cancer Research.

Coach Stuart Dillingham said Robbins had been very committed to his training plan and seeing him cross the finish line had made him feel immensely proud.

The day before, Robbins’ wife Alison, also a member of Evesham Vale Triathlon Club, took part in the Blue Seventy 1,500m Big Swim also at the Watersports Centre and came third in her age group with a time of 31 minutes 31 seconds.

This was a big achievement for Alison as she took up open water swimming a year ago and this was only her second organised open water event.

EVT’s Julian Horsley completed the 100-mile Ride London, raising £855 for the Bliss charity. It took him seven hours 33 minutes in the wind and rain and suffered several punctures.
