Greaves bags four to fire Alderton to Division Two summit

ALDERTON moved to the top of Birdseye Sports Evesham Sunday League Division Two with a comfortable 5-1 win at Badsey Recreation as the prolific Matt Greaves scored four goals and Parnell also netted. Reeves netted a consolation for the home team.

In Division Three, TDMS Evesham took the honours with a 5-2 home win against Fairfield Titans through goals from McGarr (2), Givan, Hargreaves and Vizor, whilst Titans scored through Cole and Patching. Pebworth recorded a 4-0 victory over visitors Bengeworth.

Inkberrow recorded their third successive Division One win as they prevailed 7-4 in a high-scoring game at home to Mickleton Rangers. Emblem (2), Guy, Layton, Bullock, McManus and Sheen scored for Inkberrow, with Rangers on the mark through Collins (2), Hicks and Sexton.

Offenham Rovers recorded an excellent 5-1 win at Stour Excelsior, for whom Wilson netted.




In the Bluck Cup second round, Stratford HGC upset visitors Fortis 6-1 thanks to goals from Dixon (4), Dolce and Rapson. Wallace netted for Fortis.

Also through are Charlton Fladbury who produced an excellent display to win 5-0 at Alcester Town.


In the Mick Godwin Cup, Ashton 88 progressed with a 5-1 home victory over Division Three leaders Stour Excelsior Reserves in which James (2), Stephens, Fleming and Johnson scored for Ashton and Ross netted for Stour.

TDMS Harvington won 4-0 against visitors Strawberry Field United with goals from Wallace, Philpott, Hollins and Woodfield, whilst Booth’s treble led Ambi Allsports to a 3-0 victory at home to Bredon.

The Evesham league had success in both WFA County Cups, including four teams progressing in the Sunday Junior Cup.

Bretforton Old Boys crushed visiting Worcester side Arrow 11-0 and New Inn Pershore defeated visitors Fernhill Heath Athletic on penalties after a 2-2 draw.

Broadway United and Evesham WMC received walkovers as their opponents were unable to raise a team.

In the Sunday Minor Cup, Broadway United Reserves and Bretforton Old Boys Reserves joined their first teams in progressing with 3-1 and 3-2 away and home wins over Sporting Rangers and Lickey End Social respectively.

Cropthorne defeated visitors AFC Mazak 1-0 but Dragons were beaten 7-0 by visitors Bromsgrove Academicals.
