THE first Vale Golf Club seniors section open competition of 2026 took place as just under 100 players entered the event.
Some 94 players represented 20 clubs from across the Midlands while two participants discovered they had in fact registered for the May competition in error but still took part.
The competition took the format of a men’s pairs Texas scramble.
And the Vale’s William Reading and David Rigby took first place with 43 points.
Clubmates Phil David and Steve Hickmott placed second with 42 points on countback.
That meant Lilley Brook and Frilford Heath Golf Club pair Carl Llewellyn and Mick Fitzgerald finished third also on 42 points.
One point further back, John Harrison and Peter Reynolds finished fourth on countback with the Vale’s John Ferguson and Paul Chadwick in fifth.
The event also saw Laura Cameron, fundraising manager of Campden Home Nursing, and her team raised £1,038.50 for the senior captain’s charity for the year.
Nearest the pins were Duilio Perla (3rd hole), Carl Llewellyn (5th), Christopher Dyer (11th) and Peter Reynolds (14th).
