A TRIO of Braodway Golf Club players have secured their places in the prestigious Faldo Futures Series grand finals.
Mia Jones, Rachel Van Niekerk and Torrie Milner-Lane will all compete in the world’s biggest junior golf series founded by Sir Nick Faldo and his team in 1996.
All three Broadway players won their respective age categories at the qualifying event back in March.
Van Niekerk then competed in a regional final at Cumberwell Park Golf Club as she placed in the top-two for girls aged nine to 10-years-old.
And Jones and Milner-Lane competed in a regional final at The Warwickshire as the former finished top of the seven to eight-years-old age group and the latter placed third in the 11 to 12-years-old bracket.
The grand final of the Faldo Futures Series takes place at The Belfry on Wednesday, August 26.
The Faldo Futures schedule features qualifying events across the UK, leading to 16 Regional Finals before culminating in the grand final at The Belfry during British Masters week.
And the series gives talented young golfers aged seven to 12-years-old the opportunity to compete across three age categories on specially designed nine-hole courses.
Back on their home course, Broadway also hosted the Harvey Cup for senior players which attracted a field of 68 entrants.
Former captain A.W. Harvey, who served as Broadway club captain in 1966, donated the trophy to the club.
Played as the club’s veterans competition, the event is open to male members aged 55 and above in an individual Stableford competition with additional points also awarded based on age.
Andy Basford’s combined total of 43 points secured victory in a closely fought contest.
Basford pipped Tony Holt and Brain Wright to the trophy with countback required to separate the leading trio after they all posted the same score.
And Basford will now represent Division Two in the Gloucester Golf Union Seniors Stableford event later this year while Dave Morris earned the Division One representative spot.
