Gillian and Pat clinch Ray Till Trophies

GILLIAN Spencer and Pat Saville were clear winners by five shots when Evesham Golf Club ladies contested the Ray Till Trophies in superb weather.

DESPITE the best efforts of the weather, scoring was very high when Evesham Golf Club hosted a mixed friendly, fourball, better ball Stableford.

Ian Hughes and Ruth Masters won with a score of 47 points and runners-up were Richard and Lesley Curnock with 45.

Birdies were recorded by Hughes (2), Richard Curnock (2), Masters, John Machin and Tony Smith.

TWENTY-ONE EGC members braved the rigours of a 3.30am rise for the 4.30am tee-off time in the annual, traditional Mid-Summer Madness mixed competition.

The well balanced, drawn teams meant a close encounter with generally good scores despite the fact the first two holes were played in semi-darkness.

The only indication of golf being played was the sound of club on ball and in some cases balls hitting trees never to be found again!

The course was superbly presented, beautifully enhanced by the first light and sunrise.

Winners were Mark Harrison, George Parker and Malcolm Carnall with a score of 79 points.

Runners-up were Geoff Wellens, Fraser Williamson and Penny Osborne with 78.
