LITTLETON Bowls Club’s annual gala, held in ideal conditions, was won by a family team from Coventry and Childswickham.

Local teams entered, as well as players from Worcester, Cam in Gloucestershire and Coventry.

After months of planning, an extremely successful day was enjoyed by 20 teams divided into two sections, with the winner of each section playing to decide the outright winner.

The first section began play at 9am and the second section an hour later. Section one had an outstanding team which was a family affair from Coventry and Childswickham, whereas section two was really open as five teams vied for top spot.

It was decided by points difference, with the Aston Somerville team making it through to the final, in which they were edged out.

Outright champions Brenda Kendry, Alan Beale and Paul and Rebecca Taylor won 8-6 as all the finalists playing a gruelling 48 ends throughout the day.

A good crowd stayed on until late afternoon to watch some superb bowling, with the jack being moved on many occasions throughout the final of ten ends.

Jack High Bowls Insurance, of Glasgow, along with Simon Hall Removals, Avonmore Sports Surfaces, Merstow Green Funeral Home, Fiesta Catering, Bolstrode Kennels and many other local companies all helped to make this an amazing day of friendship and competition.

The play-off for third and fourth place resulted in a four-shot victory over ten ends for Barbourne of Worcester over Hewell of Redditch.
