Liam Moakes 16th May, 2019

A FULL field competed in Broadway Golf Club’s Ladies Stableford and Veterans Millennium Trophy for which the sun made a welcome appearance as ladies’ vice-captain Frances Friend secured a convincing win with 42 points.

In Division One, Elaine Hickin took first place with 36 points, ahead of Chris Saunders in second with 35 and Lin Andrew third with 34.

Fran Andrews clinched top spot in Division Two with an excellent 35 points, ahead of Rita Harrison who took second place with 34 points and Elizabeth Milnes-James third with 33.

The best six eligible cards will be sent to Gloucestershire Veterans for qualification at the County Knockouts later in the year.

The juniors came out at the weekend for their Medal contest and once again took the course by storm. Ambrose Eaves demonstrated his tremendous talent once again, striding into top spot with 64 nett.

Jackson Wojahn-Parker made light work of the course too as he brought in an excellent 67 nett to take second. Sonny Nangle earned 68 nett as well as lowest gross on the day with a splendid 81 as he took third place from James Sutherland who was fourth on countback.

The following day, 70 Broadway men competed in their Monthly and County Medals on a day which provided wall to wall sunshine and conditions extremely pleasant for play.

Mick Sandalls won Division One with a spectacular 66 nett and Chris Smith earned an excellent second with 69. Paul Miller also brought in 69 nett to seal a worthy third position on countback.

Scores in Division Two were also impressive, with Michael Harris achieving first place with 68 nett ahead of Ben Tallis and Andrew Sutton who both achieved a commendable 72 nett, with Tallis second on countback.

As Division One and Two winners, Sandalls and Harris go forward to represent Broadway in the County Medal to be held at Minchinhampton Golf Club in July.
