STEVE FOSTER won the 14th Grant Davis Memorial Cup event which attracted 41 anglers to Jubilee fishery.

This match has become the biggest in the Evesham Jubilee Angling Society calendar having raised more than £14,000 for St Richard’s Hospice in Worcester.

This year anglers donated to the fund in order to fish the match, which was held on the Jubilee and Withies pools. A barbecue and raffle followed when friends and family of Grant were in attendance.

Grant’s father John Davis thanked all those in attendance as £680 was raised for the charity fund.

Particular gratitude was shown to match organisers Steve Foster, Bob Evans, Mark Birbeck and Alan Gardner, Ruth Foster and Pat Evans for running the barbecue and Mark Court and Grant’s daughter Martha Davis for doing the raffle.

Foster, the 2013 winner, won the charity cup for the second time by placing 50lb on the scales from peg 14 on the Jubilee pool.

Martha presented her father’s cup to Foster after the barbecue – as has been for every year of her life.

Graham Scott, also on the Jubilee pool, peg 17, was second with 37lb and Birbeck came third with 29lb 1oz from peg 1 on the Jubilee pool.

Nigel Cox was the top weight from the Withies pool with 15lb 8oz.
