ANDRE Wright scored a hat-trick as Evesham United romped to a 5-0 victory against Shaftesbury to secure their biggest win of the season.

Wright started and completed the scoring at the Spiers and Hartwell Stadium while Levi Steele and Amer Awadh both found the net.

And the result means Evesham sit third in the Southern League Division One South table, 13 points behind leaders Yate Town with a game in-hand.

The Robins broke the deadlock on 17 minutes when a shot deflected into the path of Wright who lashed a first time effort into the top right corner from 15-yards out.

And the home side doubled their lead four minutes later as Steele coolly took the ball past Shaftesbury goalkeeper Shane Murphy and found the net from a tight angle.

Evesham stretched their lead on 55 minutes when Steele flicked the ball on into the path of Wright who poked a shot over Murphy from eight-yards out.

And the hosts all but sealed the points on 72 minutes as Awadh drilled an effort into the bottom left corner from just inside the penalty area after Shaftesbury failed to clear their lines at a corner.

Wright completed his hat-trick and the scoring seven minutes from time with a powerful strike into the roof of the net from a tight angle past Murphy at his near post.

Evesham are next in action against Bideford AFC on Saturday, January 11 with kick-off at 3pm at the Spiers and Hartwell Stadium.
