LEVI Steele scored a first-half brace as Evesham United claimed a sixth straight home win with a 3-1 victory against Bideford AFC.

Steele twice put the Robins into the lead after Matthew Buchan briefly drew Bideford level before Amer Awadh completed the scoring after the break at the Spiers and Hartwell Stadium.

The result means Evesham sit second in the Southern League Division One South table, four points behind leaders Yate Town who have a game in-hand.

Evesham broke the deadlock on 14 minutes when Steele fired past Michael Searle in the Bideford goal when one-on-one.

However, Buchan drew the visitors level on 22 minutes from the penalty spot.

Steele restored the Robins lead three minutes later with another composed finish beyond the reach of Searle.

And Awadh sealed the points on 54 minutes when he ran onto Aaron Heap’s through ball and lifted a shot into the bottom left corner.

Evesham are next in action against Falmouth Town on Saturday, March 15 with kick-off at 3pm at Bickland Park.
