FOOTBALL - Inkberrow Eagles Girls flying high with league and cup triumphs

INKBERROW Football Club’s under-17 girls won the Ted Price Memorial Cup with a 2-0 victory against Nunnery Wood at Pershore Town’s Community Stadium.

The Eagles took the lead through Bethan Gair’s first-half penalty before Evie Hughes’s well-taken goal in the second period sealed a hard fought win against the Worcester-based side.

Another of Inkberrow’s side’s were crowned league champions as the under-15 girls sealed the Mercian Junior Football League Division One title with two games left to play having won 16 of their 18 league fixtures.

The girls started the campaign with successive 8-0 victories whilst other highlights include a 16-0 win at Nunnery Wood Colts Pythons and an 11-0 win away at Stourport Swifts Wildcats.

And the Eagles clinched the title in style with a 9-1 win at L and B Badgers Jets and can still achieve a treble having reached the final of both the Mercian Cup and County Cup.

The under-15’s also won the Mercian League Cup in style as they thrashed Welland FC 7-0 thanks to goals from Millie Papper, Ava Bond, Summer Brandon and Amber Martin.

Elsewhere, the club’s under-13 girls are top of their division but have played one game more than second place and two games more than third place in a three-way tussle for the title.

Inkberrow’s England Accredited girls section is now in its 10th year with the club a Kick it Out Charter standard team whilst they also run an FA Wildcats Centre.

The club are ardent supporters of growing the female game with Inkberrow’s facilities used to introduce football to girls at local schools in the area.

A clear pathway has now been created to the club’s open age team who are in their third season in the Midwest Counties League whilst Inkberrow have also announced an under-11’s team will play next season.
