ETHAN Dunbar scored a brace as Evesham United surrendered a two-goal lead in a 2-2 draw against Gloucester City.
Dunbar’s double put the Robins in command at the KMM Energy Stadium as the game exploded into life after the break.
However, high-flying Gloucester scored two late goals to rescue a point and deny Evesham victory in their first game of the New Year.
And the result means Evesham sit 13th in the Southern League Premier South table with the Robins winless on the road since September.
The Robins went close early on when Dunbar shot straight at Gloucester goalkeeper Jared Thompson after pouncing on a defensive mistake.
Chances were at a premium in the first half as Kai Churchley saw his effort comfortably saved by Thompson.
Gloucester also struggled to create any clear-cut chances but did force Evesham goalkeeper Alex Harris to tip a looping header over the crossbar.
However, Evesham broke the deadlock on 57 minutes after the break as Dunbar slid in from close range to turn home Owen Foye’s pass after good work from Andre Wright.
And Dunbar doubled the away side’s lead on 72 minutes as Dunbar coolly finished past Thompson from 10-yards out from Amer Awadh’s defence-splitting pass.
The visitors almost sealed the points moments later only for Josh Barlow to see his effort from 25-yards out crash against the crossbar.
However, Gloucester halved the deficit on 77 minutes when Michael O’Regan turned home Ed Williams’ cross from the left from six-yards out.
And the home side stunned Evesham nine minutes from time as Ben Richards-Everton powered a header into the net from inside the six-yard box from a corner.
Evesham are next in action against Weymouth on Saturday, January 10 with kick-off at 3pm at the Spiers and Hartwell Stadium.
