EVESHAM United produced a remarkable comeback from three goals down to avoid an upset and take their FA Cup tie against Racing Club Warwick to a replay.

The Robins looked set to be the victims of an upset at Townsend Meadow after Step Four Warwick raced into a three-goal lead.

A brace from Tyrell Skeen-Hamilton and header from Kyle Barnett saw the Racers take command of the second round qualifying tie after 37 minutes.

However, Levi Steele responded before the break for the visitors and Andre Wright further reduced the deficit in the second period.

And Ioan Richards levelled the tie five minutes into injury time to force a replay and keep their FA Cup dream alive.

The Racers play one level below Evesham and looked on course to cause an upset after producing a stunning first-half display.

The home side broke the deadlock after just 10 minutes when Skeen-Hamilton pounced on a loose touch in the box to finish through the legs of Jenson Kilroy.

And Skeen-Hamilton struck again on 23 minutes as he blasted home from eight-yards out after Connor Taylor nodded the ball into the scorer’s path.

Warwick extended their lead on 37 minutes when Barnett headed in Cameron Ebbutt’s corner from the left from close range to leave the visitors stunned.

However, Evesham reduced the deficit four minutes before half time when Steele lashed a volley into the net from 12-yards out via the underside of the crossbar.

And the Robins struck again on 69 minutes as Wright flicked a corner from the right into the left corner of the goal at the near post.

The visitors pushed for an equaliser and levelled the game at the death as Richards headed a free-kick past Sam Lomax from six-yards out to take the tie to a replay.

Evesham host Warwick in the replay on Tuesday, September 16 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Spiers and Hartwell Stadium.
