EVESHAM United played out a stalemate with play-off chasing Sholing in the club’s first goalless draw of the season.

The Robins have now lost just one of their last seven matches with neither side able to break the deadlock at the Spiers and Hartwell Stadium.

And the result means Evesham sit 13th in the Southern League Premier South table.

The visitors started the stronger of the two teams as Evesham goalkeeper Alex Harris pushed Jake McCarthy’s angled effort behind.

At the other end, Ethan Dunbar saw his strike travel across the face of goal after he worked space for a shot in the box.

The best chance of the first half arrived just past the half-hour mark when Josh McConnell drove into the area and forced Magnus Norman into a smart save.

The rebound fell into the path of Dunbar who could only steer a shot wide from 10-yards out when left unmarked.

Sholing had the final chance of the first half as Harris parried Dan Mason’s effort to safety.

The Robins went close after the break when substitute Kai Churchley saw his driven shot from Owen Faye’s cross deflect narrowly wide.

The away side’s best chance fell to McCarthy who could only fire over from close range as the visitors pressed for the opener.

And Sholing saw one final chance go begging after Michael Folivi burst into the box and went to ground only for the referee to book the striker for simulation.

Evesham are next in action against Hanwell Town on Saturday, February 28 with kick-off at 3pm at the Oliver Connell and Son Community Stadium.
