EVESHAM Golf Club’s men’s section gathered at a sun-drenched Craycombe Links on Saturday to compete for the Pete Callaghan Trophy.
Now in its fifth year, the 18-hole Stableford competition commemorating the late Pete Callaghan, a fondly remembered ex-member of the club, is a favourite among members with 69 turning out to play.
The conditions could not have been better as late summer sunshine, little wind and the course presented in the finest of condition resulted in some excellent scores.
In third place was Boz Harris with an impressive 41 points, Tony Stanley was runner-up with a superb 44 points and winner of the silver trophy on countback with a wonderful round, also amassing 44 points, was Dave Higgins.
The trophy was presented by Pete’s two sons, Mike and Paul Callaghan, who are both members at Evesham.
