TONY FAWCETT was handed the Diffin Trophy having been crowned Evesham Golf Club seniors champion following a dramatic annual championship played over two rounds.
The Diffin Trophy went to Fawcett for the combined best gross score and the Wilson Jug was won by Gerry Ricketts for the best combined nett score.
Course conditions for the two rounds were completely different – warm and dry on the Wednesday with a lot of awkward run on the ball and windy and rainy on the Friday.
New seniors champion Fawcett had a combined gross 174, second on 175 was seniors captain Bill Dobie and third on 176 was Alan Askew.
Ricketts’ combined nett score was 145 and runner-up in this section was Fawcett with 146 and third with 148 was Colin Hussell.
The seniors team have recently played two away matches, losing narrowly to Tewkesbury Park and slightly more convincingly to Puckrup Hall.
