Evesham Sunday League returns in fine style

THE EVESHAM Sunday League got under way with a three-division structure at the weekend.

In Division Three, Vale United started well with a comfortable 5-1 win at Titans as Paul Law (2), Chris Earle (2) and Matt O’Donovan scored for the Badsey-based team and Jacob Matonoha-Cook netted for Titans.

Second half goals from Zinzan Hancox and James Andrew saw Fortis return with the points after a 2-0 success at Bengeworth.

Matt Tarling scored a hat-trick for Bredon in their 3-2 win at Dragons, for whom Scott Sinden and Dion Mayhew netted.




Ashton 88 Reserves came away with the points as they triumphed 2-1 at newcomers Tewkesbury Athletic thanks to goals from Lewis Carter and Adam Draper. Matthew Butler scored for Athletic.

Harvington Harriers began life in Division Two with a 2-1 home win over Stratford HGC as Christian Lewis and an own goal scored for Harriers and Harry Edgerton-Furlong was on target for Stratford.


TDMS Evesham produced a strong second half performance to see off Bear FC (formerly Strawberry Field United) 3-1.

The academy side’s goals came from Harrison Middleton (2) and Ben Solomon, while Dan Sherry was on target for Bear.

Elsewhere, Broadway Athletic won 3-0 at much-fancied Ashton 88.

In Division One, TDMS Harvington and Evesham WMC scored 11 goals between them, with the Workies coming out on top 6-5.

Dan Kinnersley (3), Luke Woodfield and Jack Fairchild-Davies scored for Harvington and the Workies’ goals came from Elliot Grady (3), Sam Ford (2) and James Schembri.

Antanas Brazdys and Kieran Dyson scored for Alderman United in the visitors’ 2-1 win at Alderton, whilst Richard Guy was on target for Inkberrow as they saw off visitors New Inn Pershore 2-0.

Bretforton Old Boys opened in style with a convincing 5-1 win at Mickleton Rangers, whose goal was scored by Jason Beasley.

Three matches – at Stour Excelsior Reserves, Drakes Broughton Rangers and Broadway United – were postponed due to three positive COVID tests.
