WORCESTERSHIRE CCC club captain Brett D’Oliveira has signed a ‘significant’ contract extension until the end of the 2027 campaign.

D’Oliveira, who led the Pears to promotion in last summer’s County Championship, had a year left on his existing contract.

The 31-year-old has chosen to extend his deal for three further seasons. He could be joined at New Road by former Northants Steelbacks all-rounder Josh Cobb who is reportedly in talks.

Despite a shoulder issue, D’Oliveira scored a memorable century against Yorkshire to take the Pears to all but seal promotion.

Reflecting on his new contract, D’Oliveira said:

“It’s fantastic to sign the new contract and really grateful to the club.

“It was special to lead the side to promotion and gives you the hunger for more of the same thing.

“Going into Division One presents a different challenge, a tougher challenge, but one I know the group are looking forward to, and so am I.

“I actually do feel some of my best years are ahead of me. I don’t feel 31 going on 32 which is great.

“I still feel 18, probably the biggest kid within the group, and that banter and being with the boys, I still absolutely love it.

“I’ve got so much more to give, and so many more years to play hopefully.

“Let’s just concentrate on these four years, but hopefully there is a bit more after that as well.”

Alan Richardson, Worcestershire’s head coach, said he was delighted at Dolly’s new deal.

He said:

“His influence extends beyond the field, bringing enthusiasm, energy, and leadership to the team. He’s a vital player for us, especially as we face the challenges of Division One cricket.”

D’Oliveira has been a cornerstone of Worcestershire cricket since his List A debut in 2011 and subsequent County Championship and T20 debuts in 2012.

He has made over 300 appearances in all formats, scoring 5069 first-class runs at an average of 32.70, along with significant contributions in T20 and List A matches.

His leg spin has also earned him a combined total of 220 wickets across all formats.
