Evesham 35 Cheltenham North 7
Midlands Three West (South)
EVESHAM secured an important bonus point victory on Saturday as they saw off a Cheltenham North side who had held them to an 18-18 draw in mid-September.
In the first meeting between the sides this season, it took a late try to rescue a share of the spoils for Evesham who produced a below-par display, so second time around they were determined to build on their performance as they sought maximum points in the battle for promotion.
Despite once again being met by poor conditions, Evesham did indeed achieve their ambitions as they secured a bonus point victory against an opposition seemingly trying to disrupt the flow of the game by any means.
Numerous injuries, scuffles and penalties stopped Evesham from playing at their natural fast pace and, with Cheltenham identifying this, they continued to break the play.
However, tries from Wilf Watson, Zak Bailey and Josh Sands (two) and three conversions and three penalties from Sam Hopkins secured a comfortable win.
Second placed Evesham, who trail leaders Ledbury on number of wins only, visit mid-table Woodrush on Saturday.
