Evesham pile on the pressure in promotion race

Evesham Editorial 23rd Feb, 2017   0

EVESHAM gave their Midlands Three West (South) promotion hopes a massive shot in the arm with a crucial 39-14 bonus point home victory over fellow challengers Ledbury on Saturday.

The third placed Avonsiders’ third successive win moved them within three points of the Herefordshire side with six matches remaining.

Evesham, who like Ledbury have 12 league wins to their name, also have a 48-point better points difference ahead of their return to league action at Manor Park on March 4.

MEANWHILE, excitement is building ahead of Evesham RFC’s fifth annual beer festival, which will take place on Saturday, April 8.

The festival has proved extremely popular in previous years with more than 20 varieties of local beer, lager and cider.

However, there is much more to the occasion than the beverages, as the event features a children’s activity corner with games and bouncy castle, a pop-up tea tent, Prosecco bar, live sport, live music and great local food.

All proceeds will go towards Evesham Sports Club to provide vital equipment and resources. The sports club currently hosts four amateur men’s rugby teams alongside more than 250 youth players aged between five and 16.

Admission is free and everyone is welcome. Look out in the Observer in coming weeks for more details.
