EVESHAM Golf Club played host to its Mixed Open and Lady Captain’s Day events recently and both proved exciting affairs.

The Mixed Open was a four-ball better ball off three-quarters handicap played on Sunday.

There was an excellent number of entries with the first tee off at 8am and it continued until last tee off at 3pm.

The course was in fine condition and superb running style and first prize winners were Martin and Pat Langston from Redditch GC with 39 points (countback last six holes) and second prize went to John and Dee Machin of Evesham Golf Club who also won the Tattersall Cups.

Lady Captain’s Day took place on Tuesday and Joan Hunt welcomed everyone to a very sociable and relaxed competition in which all the ladies were drawn into teams of three with the best two scores to count for each team.

Every team started on a different hole across the course and on the sound of the claxon at 11am the competition got underway.

The winners were L Curnock, D Machin and A Budden with a wonderful score of 84 points and runners-up were J Marston, J Masser and J Witts with 77 points.
