THE TITLE-WINNING Evesham girls’ team savoured a season of success when they were presented with their silverware on Sunday.
This is the third time Evesham girls have lifted the West Midlands Girls’ Tag Rugby League trophy in the 11 years they have been part of the league, whilst they have been runners-up on four previous occasions and have never finished outside the top four.
Throughout the season the girls take part in a series of tournament and this year the Evesham girls participated in 12, of which they won five and were second in two.
They collected points in all of the other tournaments to give them overall victory by four points from nearest rivals Shipston, with the previous season’s champions Bournville third.
Evesham have two separate cup competitions still to play – the Kenilworth Youth Rugby Festival on Sunday and the Help for Heroes tournament at Old Leamingtonians on May 15.
The club would be delighted to welcome new players over the summer and any girls aged between ten and 17 should contact Alan Brown via the club website for further details.
