Evesham facing a fight to the finish in battle for survival

EVESHAM remain ninth in Midlands Two West (South) after Saturday’s 41-12 defeat at Nuneaton Old Edwardians but there is now just one point separating the bottom four.

Victory for bottom side Rugby St Andrews leaves them a point behind Evesham, Old Coventrians and Southam. The quartet all have five wins to their name and the Avonsiders have, marginally, the better points difference.

Just three matches remain and the first of these is a huge one for Evesham who host Old Coventrians on Saturday before finishing the campaign with a trip to promotion-chasing Old Laurentians and potentially another massive game at home to Rugby St Andrews.

On Saturday, Evesham failed to score in the first half but tries after the break from Tom Williams and Andy Robinson pulled the visitors into the game at 24-12.

However, the home side pulled away with three unanswered tries and Evesham returned empty-handed.
