EVESHAM Archery Club hosted a highly successful two-day Archery GB National Tour event over the weekend when home ace Jacquie Holmes captured a bronze medal.
Some of the UK’s top archers were in attendance and each day comprised of an initial six dozen-arrow ranking round from which archers are ranked according to their score.
From this the archers are paired up to take part in the head-to-heads – a 15-arrow shoot-off in which the highest scoring archer proceeds and the lowest is knocked out.
Three Evesham archers took park in the two-day competition – Sally Gilder in the ladies’ recurve, Holmes in the ladies’ compound and Jamie Harris in the men’s compound.
Gilder was ranked ninth overall on Sunday, winning two of her head-to-heads, but missing out in the third.
Harris found himself in a very tough category with some of the top archers in the country who scored so well that it was hard for Harris to break through the ranks.
Holmes managed to shoot some very impressive head-to-head rounds, knocking out some top names and managing to finish in the bronze medal position on Saturday.
After the event many archers who competed praised Evesham Archery Club on its excellent competition and hospitality.
