PERSHORE High School pupil Tom Charles will be pulling on his Stratford Cycling Club jersey to race in the European Junior Cycling Tour Assen 2017.
The 13-year-old, of Pinvin, will be in action in the Netherlands from July 31 to August 5, competing with more than 60 under 14 riders from ten countries.
The six days of racing will include a time trial, three different distanced-based criterium races and a closed road race.
It is Tom’s first multi-day event and first experience of racing outside the UK.
Ahead of Assen, he will be racing in the West Midlands Circuit Race series and starting in April he will be track racing at the Wales National Velodrome in Newport and in Derby in the National Youth Omnium series.
Tom races in the West Midlands Cyclo-Cross League during the winter months. He finished 13th out of 50 in the 2016/17 under 14 category.
