ELEVEN parishes took part in the Wychavon Parish Games angling on Saturday when five hours of fishing in hot conditions resulted in Eckington taking top spot when the results were announced at Raphael’s Cafe.
Eckington topped the pile with eight points and there was a tie for second, with placings being decided on total weight caught. This meant Evesham Little Hampton were runners-up with 12 points and a total weight of 8lb 9oz, just ahead of last year’s runners-up Offenham with 12 points but a total weight of 6lb 10oz.
Fourth place went to Honeybourne with 13 points, with last year’s winners Bretforton fifth with 14 points.
Other parishes taking part were Wick, Crowle, Badsey, Hill & Moor, Broadway and Evesham Bengeworth.
In the crib, Wyre Piddle, Inkberrow, Hill & Moor, Broadway, Honeybourne, Evesham Bengeworth, Bretforton and Wick are through to the quarter-finals.
The final of the ladies’ darts will be between Badsey and Sedgeberrow and will take place on Tuesday, October 8 at the Cider Mill in Hampton, Evesham.
The final one-day event – the table tennis – will take place at St Egwin’s CE Middle School in Evesham on Sunday, October 6. The senior event will take place in the morning, followed by the junior event in the afternoon.
The presentation evening will take place on Thursday, November 21 at Bretforton Sports Club. Parliamentary business permitting, this will be attended by Mid-Worcestershire MP Nigel Huddleston.
