ECKINGTON Juniors U11s are all smiles after winning the Ambassador Evesham Football League Plate thanks to a thrilling 2-1 win over Drakes Broughton in the final.
The final at Alcester was closely-fought and Eckington had to recover from a goal down to secure silverware, which they did thanks to goals from Archie Garfitt and Joe Greening before half-time.
Eckington coach Simon Hulse said: “I’m so proud of how the boys battled against a very good opposition. It was a real team performance which capped a great season.
“Drakes Broughton were very unlucky not to get anything from the game and they should also be very proud of how they played.”
Next season the boys will compete in a nine-a-side format and are seeking new talent to continue the team’s success.
Hulse added: “I’m looking to secure one or two more team members with a strength in defence, who ideally have played league football before. If you’d like to join us at Eckington, then please get in touch.”
