Dragons roar to impressive victory

DRAGONS ended Evesham Sunday League Division Three leaders Ashton 88’s unbeaten campaign with a 3-2 victory as three first half goals from Rob Burford, Alex Lane and Jack Pilling gave the visitors a mountain they just failed to climb.

Second half goals from Lewis Carter and Alfie Dawe reduced the deficit but an equaliser proved elusive for Ashton.

Stratford HGC closed the gap at the top by winning a high-scoring game with Stour Excelsior Reserves 6-4. Paul Dickson and Andrew Drakes both scored twice for Stratford.

Goals from Robert Rushton and Stephen Vizor earned Fairfield Titans a 2-0 home win over Bredon and Ambi Allsports defeated neighbours Bengeworth 3-1 thanks to goals from Aiden Booth (2) and Colin Dawe, with Ashley Aldington scoring for Bengeworth.




Vale United produced an excellent performance to win 6-1 at Alcester Town through goals from Paul Law (2), Ashton Welland (2), Kieron White and Graham Westmacott.

TDMS Harvington stay second in Division Two after a 5-2 victory at AFC Cheltenham in which Luke Woodfield (2), Jack Philpott, Carl Wallace and Harry Quirke scored for Harvington and the home side replied with goals from Shaun Howell and Brandon Sprason.


Cropthorne maintained their promotion hopes by defeating Badsey Recreation 5-1 thanks to strikes from Tom Boother (2), Tom Barton, John Boother and Aron Letterese.

Pebworth edged out TDMS Evesham 4-3 through goals from Tom Benfield (2), Matthew Rose and Lewis O’Loughlin. TDMS netted thanks to Lewis Horne, Josh Brotherton and Jack Howard-Nailor.

Bretforton Sports Club narrowed the gap at the top of Division One with a convincing 5-1 win at Mickleton Rangers in which Will Gayton (3), Matt Staley and Mike Jennings scored for Sports Club.

Broadway United produced their best performance for some time to defeat Inkberrow 3-1 as Wes Parker, Brandon Parker and Jason Horsburgh scored the goals and Greg Guy struck for the visitors.

New Inn Pershore returned with the three points from their visit to Stour Excelsior as goals from Dan Rushton (2) and Kyle Ballard did the trick. Owen Clarke replied for Stour.

Matthew Butler gave Tewkesbury Town a first-minute lead over Offenham Rovers and they led until the final minute when Bryn Tomes netted an equaliser to seal a 1-1 draw.
