Dragons roar to dent United's promotion bid

DIVISION Three outfit Dragons upset neighbours Strawberry Field United’s promotion hopes with a surprise 4-3 win in the Evesham Sunday League.

The result avenged a recent cup defeat as Dragons scored through Rob Burford, Tom Donnison, Alex Lane and Scott Sinden and United netted through Daryl Ballard (2) and Jake Maisey.

Ashton 88 remain unbeaten after goals from Lewis Carter and Tom Wall earned the points in a 2-0 success at Alcester Town, whilst leaders Stratford HGC won 4-0 at Fairfield Titans with Sam Jalowiecki scoring a hat-trick.

Aiden Booth hit a hat-trick for Ambi Allsports and Gary Dyke also scored in a 4-2 success at Bredon, who scored through James Driscoll and Philip Jones.




Cropthorne head Division Two following a convincing 8-1 win at Badsey Receation through goals from Tom Barton (6), Oliver Clayton and Lewis Payne, with Mat Smith the hosts’ scorer, whilst TDMS Harvington defeated visitors Fortis 5-1 as goals from Luke Woodfield (3), Jack Philpott and Jay Bunn did the damage. Jonathan Wallace scored for Fortis.

TDMS Evesham won 5-3 at AFC Cheltenham in an excellent match in which Morgan Ballinger (2), Luke Phipps (2) and Matt Craig scored for the academy side and Steven Carpenter, Luke Hughes and Noah Hurley struck for the hosts.


The two Bretforton sides head Division One, with Old Boys leading the way following a comfortable 5-1 win over Broadway United in which Daryl Mitchell (2), Dan Trotman, Greg Charman and Ash Booth scored for Old Boys and Will Aspey replied for Broadway.

Bretforton Sports Club were 6-1 winners over Mickleton Rangers as Matt Staley (3), James Stride, Ben Johns and Tim Beattie all netted and Rangers’ consolation goal came from Alfie Barnes.

Inkberrow won 4-2 at Evesham WMC thanks to strikes from Alex Griffiths (2), Jamie Firkin and Kieron Sheen, with the Workies scoring through Sam Ford and James White.

New Inn Pershore cruised to a 7-2 win at Tewkesbury Town as Dan Rushton (2), Josh Smith, Jack Hughes, Jake Brant and Kyle Ballard scored for New Inn and Matt Butler and Scott Jordan netted for the home side.

Stour Excelsior edged out Offenham Rovers 3-2 as Nick Burrows scored twice for hosts Rovers but Stour prevailed through Alex Welsby (2) and Will Brocklehurst.

Two second division teams reached the last eight of the Bluck Cup at the expense of third division sides.

Alderton won 3-2 at Stour Excelsior Reserves thanks to goals from Matt Greaves, Harry Davies and an own goal, with Nick Walker and Sam Johnson scoring for the home team.

Fladbury defeated Vale United 3-2 with goals from Will Green (2) and Harry Wilcox, with Matt O’Donovan bagging a brace for visitors Vale.
